About Me

Introduction

Hello! I’m Jack Brown, an audio engineer and producer based in Belfast. From a young age, my passion for music has driven me to explore the intricate world of sound. As a musician myself, I’ve always been captivated by the power of audio. This portfolio showcases my work and the services I offer, aimed at enhancing your projects and supporting your business needs.

Professional Experience

Early Career and Education

I am a recent graduate from the Ulster University Creative Audio BSc course, embarking on my professional journey in the audio industry. During my studies, I also worked as a freelancer, building my portfolio and gaining valuable experience across various audio fields.

Studio Work

At Red Box Recording Studios, I served as a sound engineer and producer, handling recording, mixing, and mastering for a diverse range of local artists. This role provided me with hands-on experience in professional studio settings and led to my involvement with Belfast TradFest, where I assisted in live audio setup and production for several festival events.

Academic Collaborations

I partnered with Ulster University to record their renowned choir during live performances. Additionally, I collaborated with the University and Sentireal to record audio for immersive VR games, further broadening my expertise in innovative audio applications.

Live Audio Engineering

In the live audio realm, I worked as the lead sound engineer for Sofar Sounds, managing equipment setup and mixing for various venues. I have continued to offer these services for Regard and the Oh Yeah Centre in Belfast, ensuring high-quality sound for live events.

Event Recording and Post-Production

I have recorded live events for TG4, RTÉ, Scott’s Jazz Club, and Les Foyer Des Artistes, with responsibilities including post-production mixing for radio shows.

Recent Projects

Most recently, I provided live sound setup and mixing services for the BBC, working on a live event broadcasted on Radio Ulster.

Community Engagement and Achievements

Supporting Local Talent

I am passionate about supporting local talent and have established a society in Derry/Londonderry to provide artists with a platform to grow their outreach. Through this initiative, we have organized sold-out shows across various venues in the region, fostering a vibrant music scene and helping artists gain exposure.

Teaching and Mentoring

For the past six years, I have been actively involved with a charitable organization, teaching guitar, piano, and bass to individuals from all backgrounds. This work continues both virtually and in schools around the country, providing accessible music education and inspiring the next generation of musicians.

Collaboration with NI Screens

In collaboration with NI Screens, I have composed and produced music for children’s immersive storytelling experiences. These projects have allowed me to blend creativity with technology, creating engaging and educational content for young audiences.

Game Audio Development

Recently, I have ventured into game audio, using Unreal Engine to develop soundscapes for new games in collaboration with local developers. This experience has expanded my skill set and allowed me to contribute to the growing gaming industry in our community.
